STL Viewer

Open STL files locally in your browser, inspect mesh stats and bounds, rotate the model, and export a PNG preview without uploading the file.

Supports GLB, glTF, OBJ, STL, FBX, PLY, 3MF, DAE, USD, USDZ, and 3DS

Due to browser performance limits, 3D model files are limited to 150MB. If loading feels slow, choose a smaller model or compress it first.

Model Stats

Load a model to see format, mesh, vertex, triangle, and bounding box details.

Local file preview
Your model is opened directly in the browser. BaseToolbox does not upload the file to a server.
Need a smaller file? Open the 3D Model Compressor.Need a different format? Open the 3D Model Converter.

Online STL viewer for local mesh preview

Use this STL viewer to preview 3D printing files and mesh exports directly in the browser. The viewer loads the file locally, reports mesh stats such as triangles, vertices, and bounds, and lets you export a PNG preview for sharing or review.

Common STL viewer workflows

  • Preview STL files from CAD, scanning, modeling, or 3D printing workflows before sharing them.
  • Check whether an STL file loads correctly after export, conversion, or simplification.
  • Capture a model preview for support tickets, specs, maker notes, or product documentation.
  • Inspect private STL files locally when uploading prototypes or client models is not appropriate.

STL viewer FAQ

Are STL files uploaded?
No. STL files are opened in your browser. BaseToolbox does not upload or store the model.
Can this viewer open formats beyond STL?
Yes. This page focuses on STL search intent, and the shared viewer also supports GLB, glTF, OBJ, FBX, PLY, 3MF, DAE, USD, USDZ, and 3DS files.
Does the STL viewer measure model dimensions?
It reports bounding-box values from the loaded mesh for inspection, along with triangle and vertex counts. It is a preview and stats viewer, not a calibrated CAD measurement system.
Can I export an STL preview image?
Yes. After the STL file renders, you can export a PNG screenshot of the current preview.
